ARC Foundation Welcomes Reg Krake as Executive Director to Build National SOGI Strategy in Support of Students
VANCOUVER, B.C.—The Board of Directors of ARC Foundation (ARC) is pleased to announce that, after a comprehensive national search, Reg Krake has been appointed Executive Director effective July 15, 2020. He replaces Executive Director Brad Beattie who has been instrumental in the growth of ARC and its SOGI 1 2 3 initiative.
Reg is an executive leader with more than 15 years experience in the for-profit and non-profit sectors as well as an educator with several years of teaching experience.
“The Board is thrilled that Reg is joining ARC as its Executive Director,” said Jill Gardiner, Chair of the Board. “Reg is a focused, team-oriented and results driven leader that brings an unwavering passion for, and commitment to, education and inclusivity. In his most recent role, he leveraged a collaborative approach with critical stakeholders to optimize engagement and results, a model that is directly aligned with ARC’s collaborative approach with its SOGI 1 2 3 partners. Krake is coming on board at a time when many LGBTQ2S+ students are experiencing increased isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic, and as ARC is taking steps to expand our resources and networks. The Board is confident that Reg brings the right mix of skills, experience and passion to continue our important work and to increase our impact nationally.”
Reg Krake commented, “I am honoured to be joining ARC as Executive Director and look forward to getting to know the team, our partners, donors, leads and volunteers who are essential to ARC’s success. “As an educator and a member of the LGBTQ2S+ community, I understand how critical it is for each and every student to feel safe, to see themselves in the world around them and to be free to live their best possible lives. I am excited to be leading the next step in ARC’s journey as we further our efforts to promote safe classrooms by increasing access to SOGI 1 2 3 resources across the country.”
Krake has held senior leadership roles with the Vancouver Airport Authority, Tourism British Columbia (Destination BC) and Intrawest. In his early career, he worked as a French Immersion teacher with the Vancouver School Board. He attended the Executive Leadership Program at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and holds a BEd. degree from the University of Toronto and a BA degree from Simon Fraser University. Reg has also served on a number of non-profit Boards and has been an active volunteer with several organizations.
“On behalf of the Board, I would also like to thank Brad Beattie for his immense contributions to ARC,” added Gardiner. “Under his leadership, ARC has experienced exponential growth and has been established as a leader in collaboration, mobilization and resource dissemination to reduce LGBTQ2S+ discrimination in schools.”
