SOGI 123 Lead - Alberta
ARC Foundation is looking to fill a 20-30 hours/week contract position ending June 30, 2026. Reporting to the Regional Program Manager, the SOGI 123 Lead – Alberta will lead the network of Alberta SOGI Division Leads in participating School Divisions, and navigate new ways to support the education sector with SOGI-inclusive education best practices. The successful candidate will ideally be based in the Calgary area, serving as a remote team member of the head offices of ARC Foundation in Vancouver.

ARC Foundation was founded in 2007 to build Awareness, Respect and Capacity through K-12 education. ARC Foundation’s vision is a world where children and youth of all sexual orientations and gender identities live authentic lives. ARC Foundation is the registered charity behind SOGI 123, an inclusive education program that equips educators with tools and resources for supporting 2SLGBTQ+ students and creating safe and inclusive school environments for all students. ARC facilitates the delivery of SOGI 123 in BC, Alberta, the Yukon, and Atlantic Canada, and is working to further expand its services to other regions.
MAIN FUNCTIONS
The SOGI 123 Lead - Alberta will manage the implementation of SOGI 123 including the SOGI Educator Network and resource development, alongside functions such as communications, reporting and evaluation. The SOGI 123 Lead – Alberta will work closely with the SOGI 123 program team, the broader ARC Foundation national team and the Alberta school divisions participating in the provincial SOGI Educator Network.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Work with the National Program Manager to set provincial program strategy for Alberta.
Work with the Regional Program Manager to set provincial program strategy for Alberta.
Lead the SOGI Educator Network, including communications, regional meetings and activities, maintaining engagement and ensuring the timely sharing of information.
Facilitate the sharing of SOGI expertise across schools and divisions, and the education sector at large.
Provide guidance, coaching and issue resolution support to SOGI Division Leads.
Work with education partners and subject matter experts to identify provincial trends and issues in SOGI-inclusive education.
Deliver the provincial SOGI 123 evaluation process, including surveys, interviews, analysis and reports.
Coordinate provincial reporting to ensure flow of information between the SOGI Educator Network, provincial SOGI 123 team and national ARC Foundation team.
Support the peer-to-peer network’s development and delivery of content for SOGI Division Lead and SOGI School Lead presentations and training throughout the year.
Work alongside ARC Foundation team members to develop and maintain strong relationships with provincial and local education and 2SLGBTQ+ community organizations.
Strategize ongoing SOGI 123 participation within the province’s education sector while navigating various social and political climates.
Support ARC Foundation’s fundraising activities, particularly those involving Alberta-focused initiatives.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop and adapt resources for use in the education system that are regionally responsive and aligned to government issued curriculum.
Collaborate with communications team to ensure the appropriate use of the SOGI 123 brand and voice, ensuring consistency of application in resources.
Review existing SOGI 123 resources, and external SOGI-related resources, to ensure relevance (e.g. regional, cultural, linguistic) for intended audiences. Create new and/or adapt existing resources where needed.

WHO YOU ARE
Knowledgeable about the context, initiatives and/or programs pertaining to sexual orientation and gender identity in Alberta.
Confident working with a wide range of social groups.
Utilize a collaborative style which values connecting people, both in the community and within organizations.
Have an entrepreneurial spirit and in-field approach to building community capacity.
Strongly interested in creating systemic change to support students of all sexual orientations and gender identities; preference may be given to those with lived experience within the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
WHAT WE’LL FIND ON YOUR RESUME
Bachelor’s degree and five or more years’ experience in complex program leadership, ideally in a not-for-profit environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience is also applicable.
Presentation and conference experience, including application processes.
Proven ability to build strong working relationships with senior level leaders.
Experience and/or training in the K-12 Education sector an asset.
Bilingualism (EN/FR) an asset.
THE FINER DETAILS
Ideal start date is April 1, 2025
The SOGI 123 Lead – Alberta must be based in Alberta, preferably in the Calgary area, and will work as a remote employee of ARC Foundation’s head office in Vancouver, BC
Some travel, both within Alberta and to the Vancouver head office will be expected; as well as attendance at Alberta conferences several times per year.

NOTE: the position is designed to be 20-30 hours per week. Some duties will require availability at specific times during the work week, and different times of the year may have higher and lower demand periods. Flexibility of work hours and approach are negotiable.
